This Week Was a Good Week.
This week was a good week, and I want to remember it that way.
Evening conversations with my roommates in the dimly lit kitchen. Covering topics of life, love, happiness, and where to find it. Even when they slip into another language, I know their words are filled with heart and laughter.
Getting accepted to graduate school in a city I’ve only dreamed of. Despite doubts and occasional impatience, I am proud to have figured out the next step in my path. A path not easily trodden, but which now leads to a future of promise and self-discovery.
At last, feeling at home in my apartment for the first time in a long time. Walking the hall and cooking in the kitchen without care, I know I am comfortable and safe. Should a door be shut too loudly or footsteps be too heavy, all is forgiven. All is well.
A night out with coworkers where stories and laughter were shared over drinks and slightly questionable European-style Mexican food. What a pleasure it is to be invited into someone else’s world when I myself am from such a different one.
Clearing skin, fruitful conversations, the occasional sunny afternoon, a couple of good hair days, and an immense gratitude towards this life.
This week was a good week, and I want to remember it that way.
– with love, Kathryn
